We went to Smith and Bybee Lakes for a midwinter stroll. This is a lovely spot in the heart of the industrial end of North Portland to immerse yourself in nature. While the famous painted turtles are waiting out the winter, it was hardly still and quiet. Countless birds twittered in the trees and frogs could be heard calling to one another.
