Smith and Bybee Wetlands

Smith and Bybee Wetlands beckoned to us on a spring day that was pouring one minute and warm and sunny the next.  We thought we might catch an early glimpse of their famous painted turtles, but it was not to be. Jasper did find many garter snakes sunning themselves.

Can you find the garter snake?
Recently I was wondering why we'd never seen a kingfisher.  We spotted one here.  This one is a female.
Coltsfoot.
Tall Oregon grape.
