Cochran Trail

Cochran pond and ruins of an old mill.
I've been dying to check out the Cochran Trail for what seems like ages.  We got our chance recently, but the day proved to be so cold that we decided to turn back before we'd gone as far as we'd hoped. We are hoping to get another chance this spring.  This trail follows a rail line from the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad which has been unusable for rail travel since a big storm in 2007, and the Salmonberry Corridor Coalition is working hard to make it into a recreational trail along its entire 86 mile length.  How cool is that?

We saw many frozen puddles that looked like works of art.
Bird's nest fungi.
Old, exposed fiber optic cable.
Great blue heron.
Cochran pond.
