Little Beacon Rock

We took a stroll up to Little Beacon Rock. We were hoping that the famous colony of pikas would be active in the unusually warm weather.  Pikas are little critters related to rabbits that live in talus slopes, more often heard than seen as they call to each other with distinctive "meeps".  They were silent, but the weather was lovely and the views were amazing.

View of the Bonneville Dam.
Lichen.
On the way back, we stopped briefly at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge.  There were amazing views of Mt. Hood.
