Lady Washington

The Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain are replica tall ships with educational missions.  We went to Hood River where the Lady Washington was docked for one of their dockside programs. Our tour was organized by the amazing Kim Railey.  We were told all about the life of the sailor in the 1800s, the international trade these ships were used for, and how they charted their positions and navigated. These are wonderful living history programs!
Tea was compressed into "bricks" for international trade.
A sextant.
A compass of the type once used on board a ship.
