Bonneville Power Authority Labs

While the Army Corps of Engineers operates the Bonneville Dam, the Bonneville Power Administration transmits the electricity. Twice a year the BPA offers wonderful, free field trips for kids to their labs in Vancouver where they test equipment.  We have really enjoyed these with our homeschool group. They show the kids lots of neat equipment, including their lightning maker, and explain all about electricity and how it works.

This machine tests the strength of rope and knots.
Cans that were victims of a pressure tester.
The pressure tester in action.
Testing corona.
A "Jacob's ladder".
A Tesla coil.
