Easter Egg Hunts

Easter will be celebrated on Sunday, April 4, by both Western tradition Christians and Eastern Orthodox Christians, which means that  there are LOTS of upcoming Easter Egg Hunts!  I'm not even going to try to create a complete listing, because there are so many.  If your child would have fun at an egg hunt, the most enjoyable way to participate may be the DIY hunt:  Color eggs with your kids, hide them in your back yard, and invite their friends to come over and help find them.  If you are going to a community egg hunt, bear in mind that most of them are over almost as soon as they start- they let the kids loose all at once and the scramble to find eggs ends rather quickly.  So allow yourself lots of time to get there early and find parking, etc.  Since I am gathering these listings from many sources, mistakes can happen, so please doublecheck any you plan to go to.  And unless they say otherwise, bring your own basket.

Friday, April 2,  "Flashlight Egg-stravaganza, St. Johns Community Center, 7:30-9:30pm, Ages: 2 1/2  - 11, $3/trip through the Bunny Patch.  Egg Hunt, Food, Crafts and Prizes! Help light the way when your child takes a trip through the Bunny Patch! A fun and safe environment for you and your children as they search for eggs. $3 for a trip through the patch, then relax and enjoy inexpensive food while your child is doing crafts and see what prizes they get. We provide the bucket! So 'HOP' your way to: St. Johns Community Center, 8427 N Central, 503-823-3192"  Our family did this last year.  They had festooned the playground with so many plastic eggs, many were still there the next day.  We waited in line to get a bucket, and then our child was set loose to fill it with eggs.  Afterwards, the kids had to empty the eggs of prizes, mostly stickers and candy, and return both the buckets and the eggs. April 3, Easter Egg Hunt in Westmoreland Park. "Oaks Bottom Lions Club and SMILE again present the annual Sellwood-Westmoreland Easter Egg Hunt on the ball fields at the south end of Westmoreland Park. Starts at 10 am sharp. April 3, Woodstock Park Easter Egg Hunt. "Families are invited to participate in the 12th annual Woodstock Easter Egg Hunt at exactly 10:30 this morning at Woodstock Park, where kids of all ages are welcome to hunt for eggs filled with treats and prizes! In addition, an Easter Bunny will be hopping on site for a perfect family-photo opportunity. This year is also a benefit for the Oregon Food Bank, so bring three or more cans to share! Rain or shine. And now, for something completely different:  "Mt. Hood Rock Club Spring Show — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 10, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 11, Mt. Hood Community College Gymnasium, 26000 S.E. Stark St. The Mt. Hood Rock Club’s show is an old-fashioned, free community gathering that is of interest to anyone who enjoys the beauty and variety of nature’s creations. The show will feature gems, jewelry, mineral specimens, fossils, agates, petrified wood and information about the geology of the Northwest. Visitors can check out displays, silent auctions, kids’ games and raffles, and also talk with rock club members and experts.
