Lan Su Chinese Garden

Our homeschool group recently visited the Lan Su Chinese Garden and we rediscovered this tranquil oasis.     From inside its walls, the city seems to disappear.  Anytime is a nice time to visit, but seeing so many leaf and flower buds is a special treat.  Cultural passes are available through Washington County Libraries and Clackamas County Libraries which will admit two adults and two children for free.  (This is just another reason you might want cards from each library system.  They each allow cardholders from the other two systems to apply for cards, and cultural passes are available for many different places.)

Afterwards, in search of a bite, we headed to the food cart pod at SW 5th and Oak, just a hop, skip, and a jump away.  There we found Taste of Poland.  Folks, if you've never eaten a cheese and potato pierogi, all I can say is, what are you waiting for??  I have eaten pierogis at many places  in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and in Cleveland, Ohio, both areas which are famous for them, and Taste of Poland beats them all.   They are fat and delicious and  covered with perfectly caramelized onions and a generous glob of sour cream. We were very happy campers.  Portland food carts rock!
