If you are studying the history and culture of Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest, or would like to find a way to really get your child excited about history, you definitely should know about the Lelooska Foundation in Ariel, WA. A Kwakwaka'wakw family present amazing living history programs in which they share traditional storytelling and dance with some really spectacular traditional costumes. Their museum has a wonderful hodgepodge of artifacts from a wide array of tribes throughout North America, including many from the Pacific Northwest. We found their displays far more engaging than those we have seen elsewhere. The show was lots of fun and full of humor. They offer programs during the day for school and homeschool groups, as well as longer evening programs by firelight. We participated with a group organized by the incredible Kim Railey.
