Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park- Ohio

Jasper and his Grandma.

While visiting Ohio, Jasper's Grandma took us on a long ramble at Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park. The effects of massive glaciers are clearly visible on the landscape here.  Huge rocks show the scars from being twisted and carved by the glaciers.  The rocks themselves are conglomerates, sand and tiny pebbles eroded smooth and cemented together by unimaginable compression.  It's particularly lovely in the springtime when the wildflowers are at their peak, but stunning any time of year.  We even found a little early fall color!

The massive rocks were composed of many tiny rocks.

We found more beech blight aphids- swaying together they are a weird sight!

There were lots of tiny salamanders.
