The Cascade Park Library in Vancouver is having a show from artist Houshang Foroutan that you have to see. He's made intricate collages from watch parts, taking mechanical metal parts and turning them into organic forms that seem to live and breathe and shimmer with movement. His art is marvelously inventive and has excellent kid appeal, just perfect if you've been looking for something thoroughly engaging to get your kids excited about the limitless possibilities of art. Jasper was enthralled! They were also pretty hard for me to photograph. They are mounted on a black background and framed, so the glare and reflection from the glass tended to take over every photo I tried to take. The photos on his website are far superior, yet they are too tiny to do the collages proper justice either. There's nothing else you can do but go see them yourself. The exhibit is up until February 28, so don't miss it!
