Every fall, the
Cascade Geographic Society has a Salmon and Mushroom Festival at Mt. Hood. We went this year, in yucky weather, and thought it was marvelous. We visited the table of the
Oregon Mycological Society, covered all over with a mind-boggling assortment of mushrooms. We ate some yummy Native American fry bread. We heard a wonderful lecture on Bigfoot, focusing on the many Native American legends concerning this rarely glimpsed local critter. And we took a trip to the Salmon River, to see the salmon spawning ground. We did see some dead salmon, but the live ones were all hiding from us! We had a blast, and definitely give this marvelous local festival the thumbs up!
