The Buxton Trailhead of the Banks Vernonia Trail is rather beautiful. Jasper went for a bike ride while his daddy went running and his mommy wandered around taking pictures of all the winter beauty. This trail was once a railway, and one of the magnificent wooden trestles has been preserved. Under the trestle flows Mendenhall Creek. When the weather is warm, the creek is a welcoming place to cool off and search for creek critters like caddis flies and crawdads. But any time of the year the trestle is a magnificent sight. It's well loved by runners, cyclists, wanderers and the occasional horse. You can find it at 24600 NW Bacona Rd., Buxton, OR, a skip and a hop from Highway 26.
