Roses In The Rain
What could be more Portland? Right now is the time to seek out one of our gorgeous free public rose gardens to see them bursting into bloom. Today I took Jasper to Peninsula Park in North Portland, the city's first public rose garden and a real knockout. I couldn't resist sharing some pictures. You can find out more about Peninsula Park here: http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/finder/index.cfm?PropertyID=507&action=ViewPark
Another great place to see roses is of course the Rose Test Garden in Washington Park in SW http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/finder/index.cfm?PropertyID=1113&action=ViewPark and also Ladd's Addition in SE http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/finder/index.cfm?PropertyID=221&action=ViewPark but there are smaller public rose gardens all over the area. Two that come to mind are Pioneer Rose Garden in SE (in Lone Fir Cemetery) http://www.friendsoflonefircemetery.org/history/pioneer-rose-garden and the postage stamp sized Harold Eastman Rose Garden in Hillsboro http://www.hillsboro-oregon.gov/index.aspx?page=927 And Heirloom Roses is a commercial nursery with gardens open to the public in St. Paul: http://www.heirloomroses.com/info/about/directions/
