Truck Town Party

I took Jasper to the Truck Town Party, which has become an annual event in a large parking lot just a block down from the Northwest Library.  A kindly librarian was there to read truck related stories to the kids (speaking softly into a bullhorn, for effect), and they gave the kids toy hardhats.  A tow truck company gave all the kids balloons, and the fire department gave the kids toy fire helmets and cool fire department stickers.  And of course there were the trucks. Wow!  We watched a fire pumper truck leave, and in a little while the ladder truck arrived.  With everyone craning their necks skyward, they shot their ten story ladder up into the sky!   The tow truck company let the kids operate the controls on their lift.  UPS and Penske let the kids crawl all around in their vehicles.  And the bomb squad was there with a robot which picks up things that the police would rather not pick up themselves.  Now that's something you don't see everyday!  I'm so thankful to the library for sponsoring this cool event!
