Oregon Shadow Theatre had another amazing show recently, Anansi the Spider. Although they don't often have shows in this area, we try never to miss them when they do. The puppets themselves are devastatingly gorgeous, and they are accompanied by crazy voices and absurd sound effects. They never fail to show the kids up close just how they make the sounds and the puppets themselves. Each of their shows draws on folklore from different parts of the world, which they interpret in their own way. Anansi is a trickster spider from West African legend about whom untold numbers of stories have been told for longer than anyone can say. I can't resist sharing some pictures.
