With a dry day on our hands, we decided to see what
Graham Oaks Nature Park looks like in December. Graham Oaks is interesting to visit periodically, because it's a nature park in the beginning stages of restoration. Over the years we can look forward to seeing trees planted there recently growing tall, and former farmland gradually turning wild. A small wooded area with mature trees is particularly inviting because there are many short logs right beside the trail. And we really like to turn over logs, to see what might be hiding underneath. (Replacing the logs afterwards, of course, is a must!) This time we weren't disappointed! We found centipedes, an ensatina, and the 3" long millipedes that Jasper is especially fascinated with. There were even wildflowers still blooming at Graham Oaks! We tried to guess what could be pollinating them, and couldn't come up with anything except perhaps wind.
