Smith and Bybee Lakes

We had a gorgeous (if cold) day on our hands, and wanted nothing more than to be outside.  Smith and Bybee Lakes seemed like a great place to explore.  The cottonwood trees gave everything a golden glow.  Of course, the famous painted turtles were nowhere to be seen this late in the year, but signs of life were everywhere.  The voices of birds filled the air.
Downy Woodpecker.

The sky became such a vivid blue, I had to take a picture!
