Meteorite Day!
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 11, 10AM-5PM, the Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Minerals in Hillsboro (26385 NW Groveland Drive) is having a Meteorite Day! "Dick Pugh, our local meteorite expert and field scientist from Portland State Cascadia Meteorite Laboratories, will be at the museum for a day of meteorites. There will be two presentations (11AM and 2PM) in the Video Room. Touch and pick up $15,000 worth of meteorites! Bring your own 'might be' meteorites to be identified. Learn the types and what to look for in meteorites." Admission includes all activities ($7 for adults, $6 seniors, $5 students ages 5-17, under age 5 free. Cultural passes are available from Washington County Libraries. Getting there may be complicated by the Helvetia Half Marathon- taking a different exit off route 26 and using West Union Road to get there might work well. The Rice Museum is wonderful- one of the very best museums of its kind in the nation and right here in the Portland area!
