Carnivorous Plants!

Sarracenia Northwest, in Eagle Creek, is a mecca for carnivorous plant lovers.  Their nursery where they raise these beauties is not generally open to the public, but twice a year they hold an open house.   Jasper absolutely loves these!  They have some really spectacular plants, including venus flytraps, sundews, butterworts, and a dazzling array of pitcher plants including our native cobra lilies.  This weekend, many still had flowers or seed pods gracefully rising a discreet distance above their dangerous traps, so as not to digest their would-be pollinators.  It's well worth the drive to visit this amazing place. Their next open house will be Sept. 10 and 11, and they can be found almost every weekend at the Saturday Market selling plants and dispensing good growing advice.
