Silver Falls State Park

Springtime is the perfect time to visit Silver Falls State Park.  The waterfalls and the wildflowers are in their glory, and this is surely one of the loveliest spots in Oregon.  We decided to walk the Trail of Ten Falls and see what wonders there were to be discovered.  There are two waterfalls to walk behind (three if you brave the roped off section behind which the trail is beginning to erode-yikes!). This park requires a $5 per vehicle day use fee. The South Falls Lodge has some food, including ice cream, history displays, lists of recent wildflower and wildlife sightings, and a marvelous  collection of botanical specimens of the wildflowers to be seen in the park.  Look for events there on their Oregon State Parks web page,  and the website of the Friends of Silver Falls.
