"Lacamas Valley Sheepdog Trial", continuing through August 19, Johnston Dairy, 104 NE 252nd Ave., Camas, WA. "Midsummers Green Neighborhood Festival", Saturday, August 18, 10AM-5PM, in the street on NE Sumner Ave. betweeen NE 70th and NE 72nd.  "This Saturday August 18th The Center for a Sustainable Today and The Green Neighborhood Project will be hosting The Midsummers Green Neighborhoods Festival! This year is our 4th annual celebration of sustainability and is expected to be our biggest event yet.  We have prepared quite a line up for this years festival. This year's celebration will begin with a Native American blessing ceremony, which will be followed by an inspirational talk by Judy Bluehorse Skelton that addresses Native perspectives and sustainability. Other community speakers include Naturopathic doctor Carolle Chapman, community organizer Paul Cinefuegos, and green builder David Burdick. Throughout the day there will be live music provided by local bands including Omiza River, Shannon Tower Band, Byrdland, The Sale, The Executives and Carly Baer. While you're at the festival you can talk with local organizations including Audubon, Bureau of Environmental Services, and Emma's Garden to learn about city greening programs, urban agriculture, and local opportunitunities to get involved in community building. Local vendors will be selling handmade and homemade items and we'll also be serving up some local cuisine, featuring organic grains,veggies, and fruits from local farms and gardens. Don't forget to bring the kids--there will be storytelling all day, as well as face painting and other outdoor kids activities.
