Jasper on TV!!!
Jasper and I participated in a stream survey for amphibians in Forest Park back in May as volunteers for the Forest Park Bioblitz. A film crew from OPB's Oregon Field Guide followed our team around, and a few minutes of the 4 hours they spent with our team made it into their show, which was finally broadcast last week. Jasper was very excited to be on tv! Which is kind of funny since we don't actually watch tv. It was really interesting to see that they had obviously spent time with several other teams as well, all of which were on 4 hour surveys. I'm guessing they shot at least 10 hours of footage, all so they could eventually craft a segment that lasted about 10 minutes and took 6 months to make it to the airwaves. The scene where they released the giant Pacific salamander back into the stream was shot over and over and over again to get it just right. Those guys work awfully hard! We were pleased to see celebration of the Bioblitz, a wonderful community effort in support of an amazing natural area. We really hope the city will be able to do another one soon.
Watch Season 24, Episode 8 on PBS. See more from Oregon Field Guide.
