Mushroom Walk

A fairy ring.

A family invited our homeschool group to visit their farm just to go on a mushroom hunt.  Oh boy, do they have mushrooms!  Part of their farm has Douglas firs that are being grown as a crop.  They were planted close together in order for their canopy to eclipse the ground entirely and prevent competing plants to grow.  Apparently this has created fabulous habitat for mushrooms, which don't need the sunlight.  They were everywhere on their property but especially under those trees.  We found some real beauties!

These grass seeds didn't fall off, they just sprouted right on the stalk!
