Staver Locomotive

Staver Locomotive is a privately owned wherehouse in the industrial area of Northwest Portland. It's a place where one man's vision of an amazing space to keep his cool model trains has become a reality.  And several times a year, it's a gathering place for hobbyists who share his passion for "live steamers".  These model trains have small alcohol burners in their engines which power the trains by boiling water to produce steam.  They are quite impressive as they  roll down the track with real steam curling out of their stacks!  In December each year, a free "Steam Up" is held that the public is invited to attend.  Friendly House, a charity that does great work in the neighborhood, collects donations. It's definitely a not-to-be-missed event for train lovers!
