Ten Grands

Every year, the Snowman Foundation hosts the Ten Grands Concert, an over the top piano playing extravaganza with ten grand pianos played both together and separately.  Whew!  We expected classical music, and heard many standards, but also got pop, rock, country, and video game music, all played with gusto and finesse by adults and youth alike.  The performance we attended was during PPS's spring break, so the audience was composed largely of homeschool groups such as ours.  The Snowman Foundation's mission is to bring music education to kids in need, and this year they are partnering with Portland Police to accept donations of musical instruments.  Perhaps because the audience was composed mainly of homeschoolers, they did not stress the fact that they are redoubling their efforts because the arts have been cut from so many public schools.  But I think that concern resonates with most of us quite a bit.  So if you have any musical instruments you aren't using, consider  that the Snowman Foundation will help put them in the right hands.
