Elk Rock Garden is a private garden on an estate now belonging to the Episcopal Bishop of Portland. The estate was donated on the condition that the gardens be maintained and be open to the public. It was a gift to everyone. This marvelous garden, hear Tryon Creek State Park, is especially amazing in springtime. There are magnificent views overlooking the Willamette River, water features full of hundreds of rough skinned newts, and waves of flowers of all different hues. Native species mix with cultivated varieties, so there are blooms all year long. Admission is free, but visitors need to know that there are no public bathrooms and picnics and games on the lawns are not permitted.
