Gales Creek Trail
We went for a ramble on the Gales Creek Trail in the Tillamook State Forest. There are fewer wildflowers to be discovered this time of year, and more berries bringing bright spots of color to the forest. The creek is cool and inviting. Much of the trail looks down upon the canyon with the creek far below. A sign along Highway 6 tells about the Tillamook Burn, which began nearby in 1933 and burned 240,000 acres. The trees do look young, but the forest is surely back!
