Vancouver Aquarium

Moon jellies.

We took a trip to Vancouver, BC, that grand city to the north, and a mandatory stop for us was the Vancouver Aquarium.  They have a spectacular jellyfish exhibit, which was a really special treat.  I will always remember seeing a jellyfish exhibit years ago at the New England Aquarium,  the first time I had an idea of the incredible beauty and grace of these astonishing creatures.  In addition, the Vancouver Aquarium has an extensive collection of amphibians, some large marine mammals, and a small tropical zone with birds, butterflies, and even monkeys.  Jasper really loved it there!

We were so excited to see a caecilian!  This is a Rio Cauca caecilian.
They are highly secretive amphibians that usually live underground, but
 this one is aquatic.
