Oneonta Gorge

On a hot summer day, we were up for an adventure.  There seemed no better place to go than the Oneonta Gorge.  This is a hugely popular spot, so a weekday seemed a good time to go. The first challenge is climbing over a huge log jam. (This is treacherous and not something I'd risk with small children.) After that, it's mostly wading through shallow but icy cold water, following the creek to a lovely waterfall.  Except there is a spot where the water is up to my chest.  Did I mention it's icy cold? Yow!  But on a hot day, it doesn't feel too bad.  Jasper actually thought this was the best part and wanted to go back over and over. The walls of the gorge are magnificently tall.  We lingered and looked for baby trout in the water.
