Little Lee Falls

Little Lee Falls is a tough spot to find on your own.  It's down an unpaved road, past an unmarked gate, and down an unmarked trail.  It's kind of a local swimming hole, but the neighbors are clearly not pleased if there's an influx of parked cars on their little road.  A family from our homeschool group happens to live nearby, and we carpooled there one stunningly gorgeous summer day. The kids splashed and swam and played and caught critters in the stream.  It was a perfect day, full of friends and discoveries.

This tiny turquoise beauty is some kind of larva.  It was holding fast to the rock with a strong thread.
