The
Oregon Mycological Society holds an annual show in the fall. We definitely think mushrooms are fascinating as they pop up everywhere like, well, mushrooms! So we decided to check it out. It was totally over the top! Mushrooms of every shape and size were on display and properly identified. Folks were on hand to identify mushrooms, to share recipes, to offer views through microscopes, and to talk about their many uses. They had all sorts of books for sale, and oyster mushroom growing kits. There was even a table with lots of information about collecting mushrooms for dyeing yarn. They actually make some really vivid colors! We were smitten. In the fall and spring, members are invited to attend mushroom collecting excursions with experts on hand to identify them. All year, there are monthly meetings with guest speakers. This is a wonderful local resource!
