The Adventures of Perseus

The Princess Andromeda and Perseus after her rescue.
Tears of Joy Theatre has a production of "The Adventures of Perseus", and our homeschool group went to see it.  They bring the story of the hero Perseus from Greek mythology to life, with some amazing puppets and two very talented puppeteers.  We were highly impressed!  The puppets themselves are works of art, and the story is told imaginatively and well.  The kids were completely captivated.  Funniest moment- the Princess Andromeda offers Perseus a kiss, and a collective "ewww!" issued from the kids!  Tears of Joy shows are open to school and homeschool groups alike for weekday performances.  The tickets are very reasonably priced, and they are really nice people to work with. Most shows are done in a style where the puppeteer appears alongside the puppets, and the company generally features adaptations of stories from mythology, folklore, and classic literature.  Coming up this season are "The Velveteen Rabbit', "Anansi the Spider," and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea".

After the show, demonstrating the puppet of Atlas.
