Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

It's the time of year when much of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is closed to humans.  This is because it's a sanctuary for migrating birds.  But there is much for humans to see, even if you don't come with spotting scopes to view the birds from a respectable distance.  We went  there recently with friends and rambled around looking for wonders.

A bin had been left by the pond, complete with
captured water boatmen and tiny fairy shrimp.
Scrub jay.
